ATCHLEY, STEVE SCOTT - age 63 of Knoxville, formerly of White Pine, departed this life on Saturday, February 11, 2012, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was of the Methodist faith and a member of Beth-Carr UMC of White Pine, Tennessee. He graduated from ETSU with a degree in Environmental Health and was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Vietnam Era. Steve worked for many years for the TN Department of Labor. He was preceded in death by his parents, H.E. Atchley and Emogene Scott Atchley, of White Pine. Steve is survived by his wife, Jennifer Knight Atchley; son, Clay Scott Atchley; brother, Philip E. Atchley and wife, Karen; brother-in-law, Joe Knight and wife, Jennifer; nieces and nephews, Rachel E. Atchley, Philip Marcus Atchley, Julia Bess Lopez and husband, Martin, of Washington, D.C., Johanna Knight, and James Knight. The family wishes to offer a special thanks to R. Douglas Baker for his many years of care and support. Graveside service Wednesday 11:00 am at Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. David A. Montgomery officiating and military honors provided by Volunteer State Veteran's Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to either the American Parkinson Disease Association, 135 Parkinson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10305, or Beth-Carr UMC, Beth Carr United Methodist Church, White Pine, TN 37890.
