Iva Honey Brookshire, age 85 departed this life into eternal rest to join her beloved husband, Bill, in the presence of the Heavenly Father. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved taking care of her home and her beautiful flower gardens. She was born in Morganton in Loudon County to the late Frank and Bessie Honey on September 9, 1920. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, William T. Brookshire; parents; brothers, Reggie Honey, WR Honey, Jim Honey, and AH Honey; niece, and sister-in-law, Eleanor Brookshire. She leaves to cherish her memory, son, Ted; daughter, Eunice; and the light of her life, grandchildren, Tammy and Damian Cash, Julie and Doug Spurlock, Brian and Melissa Ownsby, Shannon Brookshire, Kelly and Alex Smith, and Bobby George; she especially cherished her great-grandchildren, Trevor Spurlock, Ben Cash, Grayson Spurlock, Tanner Smith, Amanda Brookshire and Shaina Brookshire. She also leaves behind, Kaitlyn, her companion puppy; brother, John W. Honey of Belleville, MI; brother-in-law, Harvey Brookshire; sisters-in-law, Alma Roberts, Pat Honey, Dorothy Long, Sue Huffstetler, Bea Allison, and Carol Evans; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Special thanks to her caregiver, Frankie Jenkins who so lovingly cared for her. Also, Thanks to the staff at Colonial Hills Nursing Center, the Nurses at Med Central at Park West Hospital and to Dr. Mazen Hatab. Funeral Service will be 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2005 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Dr. Charles W. Sullivan and Rev. Gary Taylor officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 6, 2005 at Grandview mausoleum for the Entombment. Memorial donations may be made to Dotson Memorial Baptist Church, 814 Dotson Memorial Road, Maryville, TN 37801 in memory of Iva. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 983-1000, www.smithmortuary.com.
