SIMPSON, GARLAND HALLARD (Dean, Bart) - of Knoxville, departed this life December 16, 2006 at Parkwest Medical Center after a lingering illness. Born January 16, 1923 in Strawberry Plains, TN. Member of Bethel AME Church. He served in WWII and the Korean War with the United States Armed Forces. Employed for Walker's Trucking Co. for many years before employment wirh Alcoa Aluminum Company, where her retired after 25 years. Preceded in death by: wife, Willie Pearl Simpson; son Jefferey Simpson; father, Claude Simpson; mother, Mamie McBee Simpson; sister, Katherine Sharp; brother, Freeman Simpson. Survivors: sons, Jeffery (Bo Dean) Simpson, Steven (Dwight-Chuck) and Michael Clark; daughters, Alice (Jerry) Cantrell, Shirley (Willie) Eleazer, Jacquline Evans, all of Knoxville; grandchildren, Tharaj Clark, Kayla and Lovisha Cantrell; Mengasha, Yakisha Yucef and Tamara, Octivia, Dwight Clark, Dynesha and Jeffery Simpson, Preze Hill, Charlese Moore, Knoxville and Brandon Howard, Los Angeles, CA; 20 great grandchildren, brothers, Harold Simpson, Los Angeles, CA; Albert Simpson, Alcoa, TN; brother-in-law, Howard Stokes; sisters-in-law, Annie Farr, Alcoa, TN, Lucille Treese, Wilmington, DE and Vivian Smith, Knoxville; and a host of nieces and nephews; devoted friends, Loretta Page, Virginia Montgomery, Lois Keith, Curtis (Fat Daddy) Branner, David Herns, Carl, Nancy (Nanny-Fluffy) Cannon; other relatives and friends. Family will receive friends, 6:00-6:30 p.m., Thursday at Bether AME Church; funeral service, 6:30 p.m., Rev. Johnny Watson, Pastor; Rev. Michael Broadnax, Eulogist. Interment 10:00 a.m., Friday, Gillette Cemetery, Strawberry Plains, TN. Arrangements by Jarnigan & Son Mortuary.
