(January 28, 1939 - May 25, 2009) U.S. Veteran Carroll Eugene (Gene) Cutshaw, age 70, of Newport, passed away, Monday, May 25, 2009. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. William Leroy Cutshaw and Mary Ruth Griffin Cutshaw; brothers, Claude Cutshaw and his wife Bernice, Ray Cutshaw, Jack Cutshaw, and Ronnie Holt; sisters, Helen Dennis, and Betty Cutshaw. He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Blazer Cutshaw, of Newport; sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Sandy Cutshaw, Jesup, GA, Steve and Jennifer Cutshaw, Newport, Tommy and Vesta Cutshaw, Newport; brother, Harold Cutshaw, Parrottsville; sister, Brenda Wilson, Gatlinburg; daughter-in-law, Robin Seay, Dandridge; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Tess Cutshaw and Annette Ellenburg; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Midge and C.A. Holt; very special friend, Jack Ball; also several nieces, nephews, family and friends. Funeral services will be held 8:00 pm Wednesday, May 28, 2009 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Tommy Cutshaw and Rev. Bobbie Dunford officiating. Burial will be 11:00 am, Thursday, May 28, 2009 in Resthaven Memorial Gardens; pallbearers will be Dustin Renner, Michael Flenniken, Johnathon Cutshaw, Terry Cutshaw, Rusty Cutshaw, Daniel Cutshaw. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral services.
