Speaking of animals, I picked up an interesting tidbit while attending the May 14 birthday party for Della McNabb. Some of you will remember that in the early 1970s Larry Aldridge was the news editor here. He later married one of Della's daughters, Jackye. As a gift to the family, Larry gave them a mixed-breed beagle pup that he named "Plain Talk." At the birthday party, I also got to meet their grown-up son, Jared Aldridge, who is a cook at Sullivan's in Maryville.
