TISDALE, WRIGHT, JR. - age 65, of Knoxville, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 22,2009, following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by parents Wright Tisdale, Sr. and Mariam Boyd Tisdale Orgain of Warrenton, NC and Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Wright was born August 30, 1943 in New York City where he lived the first ten years of his life. He later moved to Bloomfield Hills, Michigan where his father served as Vice President and General Counsel for Ford Motor Company. Wright was a graduate of Deerfield Academy, St. Andrews Presbyterian College and Duke Law School. He was a member of the Tennessee Bar Association and the North Carolina Bar Association and was employed by Carson-Newman College as Director of Planned Giving and had previously served in the same capacity at the Baptist Health System Foundation. Wright was a true southern gentleman and North Carolinian at heart. He had many fond memories of the times spent in Warrenton, NC at his mother's home place or on the coast at Morehead City and Off Island Gun Club at Nags Head. He dearly loved his fishing and hunting and sharing his love of the sports with all of his sons and grandsons. The lure of the ocean and family gatherings at "Kiawah House" were precious times he always looked forward to. He truly believed in the importance of "cousins" knowing and enjoying each other and keeping in touch as he had with his own through the years. Notorious for his love of fine food and wines, Wright's reputation for his beef tenderloin was unsurpassed and will be sorely missed by those who were fortunate enough to share in his generosity. Christmas mornings will never be the same for those who enjoyed the famous Kringle that Wright personally delivered to so many. A kind, thoughtful and generously loving husband, father and brother, he leaves to celebrate his life his adoring wife Susan Greer Tisdale; sons, Trescot Wright Tisdale (Tracy) of Wilmington, NC, Alexander Holland Tisdale (Beth) of Greensboro, NC; brother, Boyd Tisdale (Laurie) of Jacksonville, NC. His extended family includes his son and daughters; E. Russell Greer (Janet), Paige Greer Wardell (Joe) of Knoxville, TN, Cathy Greer White (Brad) of Florence, AL, and Lawson Greer Duncan (Joe) of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren; Wright, Boyd, Ansley, Reese and Fin Tisdale, Matthew and Catherine Duncan, Braden and Bailey White, Greer and Preston Wardell, Jennifer Roberts (Bradley) and Kristy Olivarri (Brant); several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel, Knoxville, TN on Friday, July 24, 2009. A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 26, at 3:00 pm at Wesley United Methodist Church in Warrenton, NC. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Warrenton, NC.
