(December 17, 1947 - September 16, 2012) U.S. Veteran Henry “Steve” McCoig, age 64, of Chestnut Hill went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 16, 2012. He was a faithful and loving husband and devoted father and Popaw. He accepted Jesus as his Savior and was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church. He worked for Bush Brothers for 37 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Vietnam. He was preceded in death by his mother Blanche McCoig Webb, father-in-law and mother-in-law Roy and Almeda Thornton, grandparents John and Ida McCoig. Survivors include his wife of 44 years Janice Thornton McCoig, daughters Janeen Saunders (David) and Jessica Gann (Joey), grandchildren Abigail and Rachel Gann, Isabella, Reagan, and Reilly Saunders, brother Robert Holt (Brenda), sisters Carole Grooms (Bobby), Peggy Hughes, and Toni Miller (William). Funeral service will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 18, 2012 in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Colbert officiating. Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2012 with military honors at Big Springs Church Cemetery (Proffitts). The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Brown Funeral Home is honored to serve the McCoig family.
