Wendell Blake Wilde, age 50, of Newport, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2007 at his home. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He attended Newport Grammar School and was a graduate of Cocke County High School. He traveled 17 years as a drummer for Con Hunley and other Country music bands. When he returned to Newport he worked as a realtor for Ogle Reality in Gatlinburg, and also worked with his father in real estate and on the family farm. He was preceded in death by his father, Wendell Wilde; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Wilde, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Worley. He is survived by his mother, Bettye Worley Wilde of Newport; daughter, Blakely Wilde of Chattanooga; brother and sister-in-law, Barry and Janelle Wilde of Chattanooga; nieces, Leica and Adia Wilde of Chattanooga; and his special friend, Donna Jo Kaupp of Newport. Funeral services will be held 8:00 pm Monday, November 12, 2007 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Rich Lloyd and Dr. Charlie Boggan officiating. Burial will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, November 13, 2007 in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm Monday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Music Department Fund of First Baptist Church of Newport, 261 East Broadway, Newport, TN 37821 or to a charity of your choice.
