BOWMAN, REVEREND KENNETH HOWARD, SR. - age 92 of Knoxville, passed away Tuesday morning, July 26, 2011 at Brakebill Nursing Home. He was a founding member of Berean Bible Church and attended West Park Baptist Church. Reverend Bowman became the Chaplain for numerous nursing homes in the Knoxville area and was the former pastor of Grove Park Baptist Church. He retired as Director of Boy's Club of America in Knoxville and Oak Ridge, TN and was a United States Army Air Corps veteran serving during World War II. Kenneth was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Mildred McCarter Bowman and grandson, Chad Kerley. He is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Kenneth H. Jr. Austin, TX and Daniel M. "Dan" and Annette Bowman of Knoxville and daughter, Rebecca Ann "Becky" Lockhart of Knoxville; grandchildren, Kent Bowman, Whitney Hungerford and husband, Tristan; Kimberly "Kim" Rene Lockhart; great-grandchildren, Alex Bowman, Kylie Bowman, Danielle Rogers, Reagan Rogers, Brayden Kerley, Cinna Lockhart and Amelia Pirckle. A celebration of Reverend Bowman's life will be held 4:00 PM Saturday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with his beloved brother, Reverend Robert Bowman officiating. Family and friends will meet by 9:15 AM Monday at the Rotunda of Tennessee State Veterans' Cemetery for a 9:30 AM interment service with full military honors presented by the Volunteer State Veterans' Honor Guard.
