KOONTZ, JOSIE LEE FORTENBERRY - 83, OF Kodak went home to be with her Lord and loved ones at 5:30 a.m. Thursday, December 6, 2001. Josie began her journey at Jefferson County Nursing Home in Dandridge. Mrs. Koontz was a lifetime member of Beech Springs Baptist Church in Kodak. Josie was preceded in death by her husband, Mell G. Koontz; parents, Tom and Alice Bales Fortenberry; brother, Sam Fortenberry; sisters, Zelma Loveday and Edna Shepherd. She is survived by her daughter, Janice K. McCroskey of Knoxville; sons, Kenneth Koontz of Townsend, Gary Koontz of Dandridge; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sister, Mildred Stiles; sister in law, Pauline Fortenberry all of Kodak; several nieces nephews, and a host to loving friends will miss Josie 's loving personality. Service will be 8 p.m. Friday December 7 at Beech Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Kim McCroskey and Rev. Wayne Stinnett officiating. Interment will be Saturday, 11 a.m. December 8 at Pollards Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. at Beech Springs Baptist Church. A very special thanks to the entire staff at Jefferson County Nursing Home in Dandridge and especially to the staff of Nursing Staff #4, the Magnolia Wing. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made tot the Jefferson County Nursing Home Activities Fund, 914 Industrial Park Rd, Dandridge, Tenn. 37725. Rawlings Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for Mrs. Koontz.
