Dorothy M. Rogers, age 82 of Seymour, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 16, 2015. She was an active, lifelong member of Ellejoy Baptist Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Tennessee, Chilhowee Chapter #450, Seymour, Tennessee where she was serving as Electa this year. Dorothy was a proud employee of Lowe's Drug store in Maryville for 61 years and 10 months and was still working at the time of her death.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Wiley N. and Rachel S. Rogers and by her brothers, James A. (Jim) Rogers and William Harvey Rogers.
She is survived by her sisters: Norma Foxx, Geraldine (Earl) Ford, and Deloris Boatman; nieces and nephews Pam (Jim) Maples, Debbie (Brad) Jackson and Robert (Mechelle) Boatman; and great-nephews and nieces Sam Ingle and Shane Maples, Tara Dorsey, Shawn Boatman, and Donnie (Amanda) Fuller. Dorothy is also survived by several great-great nieces and nephews, several cousins and many special friends.
The family will receive friends 1-3 PM Saturday with funeral service to follow at 3 PM in Atchley's Seymour Chapel with Rev. Jim Lawhorn and Rev. Arkie Baker officiating. Interment to follow funeral service in Ellejoy Cemetery. Arrangements by Atchley Funeral Home, 122 Peacock Court, Seymour, Tn. 37865 (865)557-2807.
