CATE, BURL - age 82, of W. Dumplin Valley Rd., (Dumplin Community), New Market, Tenn., passed away Wednesday morning, September 8, 1999, following an extended illness. He was a member and deacon of the Dumplin Baptist Church, retired employee of Ragland Bros. and Pay Cash Food Distributors. Veteran of the US Army having served in World War II. Survivors: wife of 53 years, Agnes Koontz Cate; daughters, Mrs. Emily (Harold) Blake, Berlyn Faye Cate, Mrs. Dianne (Don) Gass, Mrs. Sandra (Stanley) Massengill, all of New Market; grandchildren, Adam, Kari, Michelle and Stephen; great-grandchildren, Austin, Jordan, Natasha and Victoria; sister, Pearl Cate Huskey; sisters-in-law, Lissie Cate, Reba Cate and R.V. Koontz.,and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral service 8 Friday evening at the Dumplin Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Jones and Rev. Kyle Cate officiating. Interment graveside service with military honors by the East Tennessee Veteran Honor Guard will be Saturday 10 a.m. at Cate Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Dumplin Baptist Church Building Fund, 1843 W. Dumplin Valley Rd., New Market, TN 37820. Family will receive friends Friday 5-8 p.m. at the church prior to services. Arrangements by Farrar Funeral Home, Dandridge.
