David Phillip Hairrell , a resident of Cleveland, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, surrounded by family and friends. He attended ETSU on a basketball scholarship, and graduated in 1964. He was later employed with Magic Chef, Hardwick Stove, Maytag, AGC Co., and founded Hairrell Industrial Sales Company in 1990. He was born in Athens, on April 25, 1942, to Gertrude Z. Karaivanoff and William D. Hairrell . Survivors include his wife, Alice Steele Hairrell , of Gatlinburg; children: Angie and husband Stan, Chris and wife, Jennifer, Doug and Mike and wife, Kelley; nine grandchildren: Madison, Caitlin, Claire, William, Caroline, Eva, Catherine, Will and Charlie; one brother, Bill and wife, Bonnie; and two nieces: English and Nicki, both of Birmingham, Ala. He was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church, where a memorial service will be held on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Randy Martin officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6 p.m. prior to the service at the church. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Holston United Methodist Home for Children in Greeneville, online at www.holstonhome.org or to Broad Street UMC, P.O.
