WILLIAMS, JAMES STEPHEN - US Army Veteran, age 55 of Sevierville moved on to be with his father in heaven on Monday June 2, 2008. Steve was a member of Anitoch Baptist Church, where he loved his fellow members of the congregation as much as he loved his own family. Steve was an accomplished surveyor for his wife's family business, Wallace Surveys. Over the past 20 years Steve Williams has become recognized name through the mountains of Sevier County, where he has been finding pins and closing lines with the same level of passion he has put into his whole life. Steve was also well known songwriter and musician. He and his younger brother Phil started out on Rock music in the early 80's with a band named Golden Eagle. The last half of his life was spent entertaining people with the beautiful sounds of his mandolin playing new mountain music with his brothers and friends in the bands Homegrown Grass and the Elderburys. Steve Williams was preceded in death by his father, Ray F. Williams and by his oldest brother, Michael David Williams. Survivors include his beautiful mother, Bobbie Jo Williams; his loving wife of 28 years, Jessie Williams; her sons, Rusty and Tim Wallace and her grandchildren, Amber Wallace and Stacia Reagan. Steve leaves his only son, David Eric Williams; brother, Phil Williams, brother, Joe Williams and Skye with Joe's son, Jesse and daughter, Ruby; sister and brother-in-law, Rosanne and Robert Broome with daughter, Lisa, who has sons Evan and Austin and daughter, Heather who has daughters Mikayla and Amelia. Steve also leaves sister-in-law, Nancy Williams and nephew, Roger Williams. The family would like to thank Steve's doctor, Robert Pollack for his care, knowledge and commitment to Steve's well being over the last 6 years. We also would like to recognize the 7th floor Medical Department at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center for their care, compassion and professionalism. Receiving of friends will be at Antioch Baptist Church on Goose Gap Rd in Sevierville on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 6:30 p.m., followed by memorial service at 7:30 p.m. For information about memorial contributions or any additional information please call Eric Williams at 865-389-1665.
