Grant V. Trent, age 97, a life-long resident of East Tennessee, passed away on Monday, May 24, 2010 at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital in Knoxville. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theatre for the U.S. Navy. He formerly owned and operated Berkline Café in Morristown and is a member of Alpha Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Georgia Eileen Trent; five brothers, Guy, Gaston, Horace, Garrett, and Everett Trent; and three sisters, Mildred White, Ora Byrd, and Nina White. He is survived by his son, Dr. William G. (Mary Nell) Trent of Shalimar, FL; daughter, Barbara (David) Huffman of Marietta, GA; four grandchildren, Dr. Mary Elizabeth Trent (Eli Solomon), Jon David, Daniel and Ben Huffman; and great-grandchild, Madeline Solomon. He remained very active, enjoying dancing, exercising, and his rook card club at the Morristown Senior Citizen Center. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 27 at Alpha Baptist Church with Dr. Terry Kirby and John David Huffman officiating. Interment will follow at Bethesda Cemetery with Rev. J.B. Gulley and John Huffman officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. @ 10:30 a.m., prior to the service at the church. Flowers are being accepted or memorial contributions can be made to the Senior Citizen Center: 841 Lincoln Ave. Morristown, TN 37814. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
