CAYLOR, EVA MAE CARROLL VANNOY - age 83 of Knoxville, passed away July 16, 2007 at St. Mary's Residential Hospice Center of a lingering illness. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Ben A. and Ida Rose Carroll; her first husband, Fred Vannoy who passed away July 17, 1962; and her second husband, Dr. L.G. Caylor who she wed on May 28, 1984 and passed away on April 6, 2006. She was born October 4, 1923 in Whitley County, Kentucky. She was a proud graduate of the St. Mary's School of Nursing, Class of 1946. As a registered nurse, she was head nurse at St. Mary's Hospital then worked many years in the private practice of Dr. L.G. Caylor. Along with her husband, Dr. L.G. Caylor, she established a scholarship at Lincoln Memorial University and established the Caylor Chair of Nursing. She was a member of 1st Baptist Church of Powell having previously served the Lord for many years at Arlington Baptist Church and Beaver Dam Baptist Church. She is survived by: her daughters, Vianna Goins and her husband, Bill of Ft. Thomas, KY, Mary Lovett and her husband, Mike of Knoxville; and her son, Dr. John F. Vannoy and his wife, Kathy of Farragut; grandchildren, Rebecca McLean, Michelle Lovett, and Madison, Lauren and Chandler Vannoy; great grandchildren, Andrew and Caleb McLean and brother, Retired Col. George F. Carroll and wife, Dot. Funeral service 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel with Rev. Jim Waddell and Dr. John Vannoy officiating. Family and friends will meet at the W. Adair entrance to Lynnhurst Cemetery Friday by 9:45 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. interment service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Residential Hospice or to the Gideons. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Mary's Residential Hospice and Vickie Dockery for her tender care.
