Barbara June Hartsell Smith, age 66, of Newport, entered into eternal life early Friday morning, April 7, 2006, at her home surrounded by her family. She was a life long member of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Onedia Hartsell. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Smith; sons, Chris Smith and his wife, Octavia, Jeff Smith and his wife Shannon, Kip Smith and his wife Ruby, and Chad Smith; brother, Hugh William “Bud” Hartsell; grandchildren, Kevin Henderson , Eric Smith, Harrison and Elizabeth Smith, Steven and Taylor Smith, and Allison Smith; great grandson, Hunter Gregg; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Hartsell, Helen Hayes and husband Roy, Brenda Smith, Doris McGaha; brothers-in-law, Charlie McGaha and wife Bonnie, Joe McGaha; niece and nephew, David Hartsell and Holly Hartsell. She is also survived by many special cousins, nieces and nephews; special friends, Robin Hill, Nancy Bryant, Imogene Webb, Bridget James, Geraldine McSween and her Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church Sunday School Class ( Always Faithful ). Special thanks to Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice and the nursing staff at Park West Hospital. Funeral Services will be held 8:00 pm Sunday, April 9, 2006 at Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Manson Lee and Rev. Dale Maloy officiating. Burial will be 10:00 am Monday, April 10, 2006 in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Sunday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral services. It was Barbara’s request in lieu of flowers, donations be made to, Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund, 234 Lincoln Ave., Newport, TN 37821.
