LOYALTON, Calif. - Raymond Franklin Carter, 82, died Aug. 27, 1999, at Sierra Valley District Hospital.
A native of Kenefick, Okla., he was born Feb. 12, 1916, to John and Bethina Emmeline (Lawson) Carter and had lived in Loyalton since 1995, coming from Portola, Calif., where he had lived since 1987. He had also lived in Doyle, Calif., from 1953 to 1987 and in Loyalton from 1950 to 1953.
Carter worked in civil service, Herlong, Calif., retiring in 1987. He served in the Army from 1939 to 1945 and was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Loyalton and Portola.
His wife, Stella, died in 1985.
Surviving are wife, Dorothy of Loyalton son, Troy and daughter, Audine Lassiter, both of Doyle sons, Kenneth of Maryland and Carl of Hayward, Calif. son, Jerry and daughter, Aline Lassiter, both of Spokane, Wash. nine stepchildren, 20 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
A graveside funeral was held.
Arrangements are under the direction of Manni Funeral Home, Portola.
