Gordon Theodore "Ted" Rose passed away on July 10, 2009, at Renown Medical Center in Reno, Nevada. He was born March 30, 1944, at the home of his parents, Clyde and Dorothy Rose in Maryville. He graduated from Lanier High School in Maryville, and attended Maryville College for a short time. He became an Optician and had worked in Maryville; Fresno, Calif., and Los Altos, Calif., before retiring and moving to Portola, Calif. He was preceded in death by his companion of 30 years, Wilfred Klatt; his parents; his stepfather, Raymond Carter; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Rose, Mr. and Mrs. James L. Carnes Jr.; and brother, John Arnold Rose. Survivors are: sisters, Sharon Rose, Eleanor Gwynne "Bunnie" Taylor of Portola, Calif., Nancy Rose of Chico, Calif., and Gypsy Rose (Theda Hammond) of Morro Bay, Calif.; brothers, J.C. (Nancy) Rose of Maryville; Joe (Rebecca) Rose of Louisville; Dan (Anne) Rose of Madisonville; niece and caregiver, Melanie (Erick) White of Portola; nieces, Mindy (Mike) Brown of Chico, Calif., Kelly Burchfield of Loyalton, Calif.; Gloria Hatcher of Louisville, and Cathy Mick of Michigan; nephews, David Burchfield of Loyalton; Philip (Faye) Bryant of Nakina, N.C., Mike (Rae) Davison of Santa Rosa, Calif., Jimmy Rose; Jesse J. Rose of Maryville, Paul Reagan, Robert, Brian Rose, Bryan and Matthew Rose of Tennessee; several cousins, great-nieces and nephews and aunt, Georgie Costner of Maryville. A Graveside service was held on July 18 in Portola, Calif., under the direction of Manni Funeral Home of Portola.
