Visitation for Vr C. "Brownie" Justus, 89, of Grant Park, will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
Burial will be in the Momence Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home at Manteno. He died Friday (Sept. 17, 2010) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee.
Vr "Brownie" always had projects going. He owned auto repair and ironworks businesses, including Exterior Services. He was a skilled craftsman in all areas and specialized in metal fabrication. He enjoyed life on his little "ranch" with his family and horse. He was a farm boy at heart. He was as physically active as someone much younger, climbing upon roofs and trees fearlessly. He enjoyed life. Vr welcomed the gospel into his life in 1931. He was born Dec. 25, 1920, in Jacksonville, the son of Victor Ranz and Eula Johnson Justus. His first wife, Helene R. Brown Justus, died Oct. 17, 2007. He was very proud of being a veteran in the U.S. Navy Seabees, serving during World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Marie Fortado Justus, of Grant Park; one son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Susan Justus, of Frankfort; two daughters and one son-in-law, Cherylynn and Dave Czupryn, of Lansing, and Carolee Justus of Austin, Texas; one stepdaughter, Cindy Fortado Clark and Vann Clark of Bridgeton, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Robert and Michelle Snell, Lisa and Bill Reichel, Heidilyn and Bob Findlay, David and Erin Justus, Daniel and Sherah Justus, Joshua and Apryl Justus, Danielle Justus, and Saralyn Justus; three stepgrandchildren, Brian, Marie and Brandon Clark; 11 great-grandchildren, Amanda, Kody Lynn, Kody, Kurt, Karl, Austin, Katelynn, Adam, Keyilah, Malachi and Devland; five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Esther Osenga of Memphis, Tenn., Bettie Zimmerli of Madison, Wis., Margaret Wilcox of Los Angeles, Calif., Joann and Don Borgman, of Grand Junction, Colo., and Robert Osenga of San Diego, Calif.; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, A.C. and Barbara Justus, and Ray and Verna Justus, all of San Diego, Calif.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Nell Osenga and Mary Louise; and two brothers, Jack Justus and Richard Justus.
