Vera Bryant, 75, of Newport, went to be with her Lord Tuesday, November 21, 2006, at Newport Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of God. Mrs. Bryant is preceded in death by her parents, Alderson and Pearl Grooms Hill; one granddaughter, Nikki Mathis; one sister, Shirley Hill; and one brother, Estel Hill. She is survived by her husband, Hal Bryant, of Newport; children, Regina and husband Krzystof Jozefek, Eric and wife Tammy Bryant, Janice and husband R.K. Kelley, and Deloris and husband Verlin Mantooth, all of Newport; sisters, Cleta and husband Bud Cline, Mildred and husband Rusty Lund, and Lela Milligan, all of Hickory, N.C.; and brother, Raymond, and wife, Wanda Hill, of Hickory, N.C. Vera will also be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Nikki and Shane Bryant, Blake Kelley, Chandra Pierce and Cindy Miller; great-grandchildren, Amber and Autumn Miller, Ariel Ottinger, and Nathaniel Pierce; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. The family will receive friends Friday, November 24, 2006, from 6 - 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be Friday, November 24, 2006, at 8:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James McFalls, the Rev. Charles Oakes, and the Rev. Dustin Wilde officiating. A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 25, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Bryant Cemetery. Brown Funeral Home has been honored to provide the final arrangements for Mrs. Vera Bryant.
