Bobby Joe Hickson, age 62, of Newport, died Monday, April 27, 2015. He was a member of Carson Springs Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mable Howard Hickson & James Hall Hickson; and brother, James Hall Hickson, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Judy Stapleton Hickson; son, Bobby Joe Hickson, Jr. (Bridget); daughter of his heart Jennifer (Jim) Cox of Morristown; two grandsons, Colin James and Samuel Devon; two sisters, Virginia Kaye (Bob) Silverdecker of Knoxville and Tammie (Billy) Eslinger; special friends Denim Morgan & Lance Walker; very special friends and caregivers Tuan Fine, Elena Obrian, Beverly Morgan, and Chaplain Ron Carrell.
Bobby enjoyed church and taught Sunday school. He also enjoyed old cars, and was a member of the Smoky Mountain Heartland Chapter of the Hudson Club. He liked fishing and gospel music. He was a friend to many.
The family wishes to thank everyone at Smoky Mountain Home Health & Hospice and Jabo's Pharmacy for the care they have given Bobby these past six years.
Funeral services will be held at the Resthaven Memorial Gardens chapel on Tuesday, April 28, 2014 with Rev. Roger Whaley officiating.
