Hancock, Delmar Ray – age 65 of Kodak, beloved Husband, Father, and Papaw went home to be with the Lord Wednesday morning, August 26, 2009. Ray was welcomed in Heaven by his parents, Paul and Gladys Hickman Hancock. He was an active member and former deacon of Ebenezer Baptist Church. Ray was a 1962 graduate of Sevier County High School and retired from Rock Tenn Company. Ray was on the Board of Directors and the Caretaker of Pollard Cemetery. He is survived by loving wife of 46 years, Linda Chesney Hancock; sons and “daughters,” Paul Eugene and Jana Hancock, Richard Ray and Christy Hancock of Kodak; grandsons, Zachary and Jacob Hancock; sister and husband, Grace and Harold Stallings of Sevierville; sister, Nadine Cate of Kodak; brother and wife, Robert Cecil and Pat Hancock of Kodak; many precious nieces, nephews and cousins; adopted father and fellow worker at Rock Tenn, Clarence and wife Cleo Osborne of Maynardville. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Friday, August 28, 2009, at Ebenezer Baptist Church with funeral services to follow at 7:00 PM with Dr. Doug White and Rev. Matthew Cooke officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:15 AM Saturday at Bridges Funeral Home and proceed to Pollard Cemetery for an 11:00 AM interment. Pallbearers will be nephews, Ricky Stallings, Wayne Cate, Alan Hancock, Jeff Powell, Nathan Chesney, Michael, Kevin, and Patrick Limbaugh, Travis and Brandon Myers. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Fellowship Sunday School class. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pollard Cemetery or Ebenezer Baptist Church Building Fund, 2200 Midway Road, Knoxville, TN 37914.
