Hancock, James David – age 63 of Knoxville passed away Sunday, June 20, 2010, at UT Medical Center. Retired from the Knoxville News-Sentinel after 44 years. He was a member of CWA Knoxville Local No. 83 and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason member of South Knoxville Lodge No. 769 F&AM. Preceded in death by parents, Oliver and Edith Glenn Hancock. David is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Annie Mitchell Hancock; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Sam Buhl; step-sisters, Judy Branch, Brenda Lane, Frances Duncan and Jacqueline Clay; sisters-in-law, Mary Jones and husband Jim, Mae Nutting and husband Wendell; nieces, Jennifer Buhl, Pat Cox, Kathy Webb, Sondra Shelton, Michelle Flowers, and Sheila Jones; nephews, John Davis, Michael Jones, Brian Coulter, and Barry Coulter; uncles and aunts, James and Mary Glenn, Clarence and Johnnie Glenn, Edith Hancock, and Stella Hayes; and several cousins and special neighbors. The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:45 P.M. Wednesday with a Masonic Service at 7:00 P.M. conducted by South Knoxville Lodge #769 F&AM. Family and friends will meet at Bridges Funeral Home on Thursday, June 24, 2010, at 10:00 A.M. at Bridges Funeral Home and proceed to Pollards Cemetery for an 11:00 A.M. interment with Rev. Clarence Gresham officiating. Pallbearers: Hugo Kirby, Phillip Evans, Johnny Ketron, Jim Thomas, Ernie Broome, and Randy Glenn. Arrangements by Bridges Funeral Home, 5430 Rutledge Pike, 865-523-4999.
