April 25, 1919 - June 18, 2015 Resided in Sevierville, TN Lillian Ruth Denton, age 96, of Sevierville, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2015. Lillian was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who never met a stranger. She was a long-time member of Fox United Methodist Church. She always welcomed everyone into her arms with hugs. Her affection for her family and all who knew her had no bounds. Lillian never had anything bad to say about anyone and was affectionately known as "Granny" by many. She truly loved her family and our Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by her husband, Murphy Denton; parents, Mae and Jim Edmonds; brothers, Tom and Raymond Edmonds; grandson, Randy Denton; and great-grandson, Garrett Layman. Lillian is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Sue Layman and husband, Dennis; son, Duane Denton and wife, Dixie; special son, Dennis Edmonds and wife, Kathy; grandchildren, Marty Layman and wife, Holly, Craig Layman and wife, Neisha, Brian Smith, Lisa Hale and husband, James, Amy Ferguson, and Brandie Edmonds; great-grandchildren, Olivia Layman, Taylor Layman, Emma Layman, Caiden Layman, Mabry Layman, Dana Smith, Zain Smith, Cloe Smith, Kaitlyn Hale, Lucas Hale, and Preston Brooks; and her best friend, Charlene McGaha. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hills Union Cemetery, 2483 Chestnut Hill Rd, Dandridge, TN 37725. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all the staff members at LeConte Medical Center, Ft. Sanders Regional Hospital, Gentiva Home Health, and the Jefferson County Nursing Home. Funeral service will be held at 4 pm Sunday, June 21st in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Lambert and Rev. Stacy Pearcy officiating.
