Ervin Clayton Douglas, 90, of Sevierville passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2017. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Sevierville. Ervin was a WWII Veteran and served in the Army during the Occupation of Japan at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from LMU and was a Special Education Teacher and Girls’ Basketball Coach before joining TWRA from which he retired after 25 years of service. After his retirement from the state, he served as a Police Officer for the City of Pittman Center, and into his 80’s worked at Food City in Sevierville. Ervin also served in the American Legion Honor Guard. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, spending quality time with his grandchildren, and attending church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel R. Douglas; parents, Foster and Lucy Douglas; brothers, Edward and Benny Douglas; granddaughter, Shelly Mae Douglas; great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Haynes and Gabriel Wilson. Ervin is survived by his son, Scott Douglas and wife Cathy; daughters, Kaye Lamon and husband Mike, Karen Wilson and husband Steve; grandchildren, Mike Lamon and wife Christy, Laura Haynes and husband Robert, Kelly Weber and husband Brandon, Andrew Wilson and wife Bunny, and Hunter Douglas; great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Brianna, and Joshua Haynes, Madison and Ryan Lamon, Izabella Weber, Shayden and Josiah Wilson; brothers, Samuel, Clifford, Winfred, Harvey and wife Jan, Carl and wife Bonnie Douglas. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to his special caregiver, Gail Williams. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6:45 PM Wednesday, September 20th with the funeral service to follow at 7 PM in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home. Rev. Carl Bryan and Rev. Lee Ray officiating. Family and friends will meet 11 AM Thursday at Bethel Cemetery for interment. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post #104.
