THORNTON , MARY KATE HANCE - age 83, of the Chestnut Hill Community, Dandridge, passed away Wed. evening, Jan. 26, 2000 at Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee following a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Grace Hance and was preceded in death by her husband Benton H. Thornton and sister Ann Hance . Mary Kate was a retired LPN from Cocke County Baptist Hospital & was a member of Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Dandridge Senior Citizens, retired UAW associate member & former member of the LPN Association. Survivors: daughter & son-in-law, Cathy & John Bogart of Ocala, Fla.; granddaughters, Kim Bogart, Treva and Randy Widdis; great grandson, Zachary Hamm, all of Ocala, Fla.; sisters, Inez H. Dockery of Dandridge, Robbye & husband Edward (Edd) Wilson of Rock Hill, SC, Pauline Bishop of Oak Ridge; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews & great great nieces & nephews. The family request that memorials in memory of Mary Kate be made to the Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Geraldine George, 1451 Ponderosa Dr., Dandridge, TN 37725 or the Hills Union Cemetery Fund, c/o Lorene Hance , 1503 Sandy Ridge Rd., Dandridge, TN. Funeral services Fri., 8 p.m. at Farrar Dandridge Chapel with Rev. Lisa Stone & Rev. John Clark officiating. Interment services will be private. Family will receive friends Fri. evening, 6-8 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home, Dandridge.
