Noe Monroe (N.M.) Hodges, age 86, of New Market, Tennessee, departed this life surrounded by his children on Thursday, May 16, 2013, after a complication due to surgery. He was born in New Market, Tennessee, on June 4, 1926, to Charles Albert and Susie Watkins Hodges. N.M. spent his career working in local mining companies and retired after more than thirty years of dedication. He was a life long member of Strawberry Plains Presbyterian Church, where he held many positions within the church. N.M. took great pride in serving as a longtime board member for Jefferson County Nursing Home. He spent his retirement doing the things he loved: traveling, gardening, reading, and home improvement projects for anyone who asked. N.M. was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Hill Hodges. He is survived by his children Michael (Karol) Hodges of Tucson, Arizona, Kimberly (Bill) Thompson of Alcoa, Tennessee, Frank (Kim) Hodges of Strawberry Plains, Tennessee, and Jennifer (Chris) Land of Chapin, South Carolina. N.M. is also survived by ten grandchildren: Joshua, Ben, Will, Candace, Andrew, Mallie, Karie, Jessica, Nick, and Weston and five great-grandchildren: Allison, Andrew, Evan, Aubrey, and Taylor. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 19, 2013 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. with services immediately following at Farrar Funeral Home, 411 W. Broadway Boulevard, Jefferson City, TN with Reverend Dennis Maxey officiating. A graveside interment service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday morning, May 20, at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Strawberry Plains Presbyterian Church, 3168 W. Old Andrew Johnson Highway, Strawberry Plains, TN 37871 in N.M.'s memory. Farrar Funeral Home, Jefferson City, is in charge of arrangements.
