Clarence Thomas Green, age 83, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mr. Green was born June 27, 1931, in Sevier County, Tenn. At an early age, he and his family moved to Oliver Springs.
At the age of 16, he moved to Toledo, Ohio, where he continued to live until his retirement.
Clarence was employed at General Motors in the Toledo assembly plant. He was a member of the United Auto Workers of America. Following his retirement in 1980, he moved back to Oliver Springs, where he has continued to live.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kimsey Green and Catherine McCarter Green, and a son, Anthony Green.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Margaret Vann Green; a daughter, Rose Green and companion, Michael Shirks, of Petros; sons, William Green and wife, Sandra, of Alabama, David Vann and wife, Robin, of Oliver Springs, and Clarence Nicholas "Nikki" Green and wife, Amber, of Kingston; grandchildren, Blake Green, Ashley Gaylor and husband, Sanie, Anthony Vann, Kaleigh Phillips, Whitney Green and companion, Tyler Walls, Melaney Green, Landon Galyon, Mackinley Hope, Jonathan Harrison, Diane Green, Kelly Green, Lori Green, Teresa Green, Mary Green and Bobby Richeson and wife, Dorothy; and 16 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Chloe Russell of Claxton; half sisters, Joyce Yaste of Oak Ridge and Betty Freels of Claxton; and by several nieces, nephews, extended family members and several friends.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 9, 2014, between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m., at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 8 p.m., in the funeral home chapel.
Burial and graveside services will be held Thursday, July 10, 2014, at 11 a.m., at the Indian Creek Cemetery.
