In the early morning hours, Thursday, January 10, 2013 Jesus said, “all ye who are weary and heavy laden, “Come Unto Me “, and I will give you rest. A loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend went home to be with Jesus. Anna Laura Kyker, age 88, of Newport, passed away at the home of her daughter, Kaye Ramsey. Anna was born and raised on a farm. From early childhood until she became sick, she was a busy lady. Her first jobs where in manufacturing. Anna was one of the early female entrepreneurs. She began the very successful Kaye’s Drive-In Restaurant in1959. In 1963 she purchased Maddron’s Restaurant on the corner of Main Street and began K’s Restaurant. She attended West End Tabernacle. She was a very talented lady and excelled in many fields. She made life easier and brighter for her family and friends, and enjoyed helping others with her busy hands and happy heart. She was preceded in death by her husband, John M Ramsey; parents, W.C. and Anna Mae Kyker; brothers, Jim Carrell, Jack, Bob, Bill, Jr, and Ralph Kyker; sister, Mabel Kyker Stevenson Lombardi; brothers-in-law, Clay Drinnon, Pat Jonston and George Lombardi; nephews, Mark and Jerry Kyker; and niece, Linda Kyker. She will be sadly and forever missed by her daughter, Kaye Ramsey, Roger Templin and grandson Jonanthon Templin of Newport; sisters, Jane Kyker Jonston, of New Mexico and Wilma Jean Kyker Drinnon of Newport; also several nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. The family will receive friends Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon with funeral services following at 12:00 noon at West End Tabernacle, with Rev. Bud Campbell officiating. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Mausoleum.
