Robert David 'Bob' Bradley, age 86, of Knoxville, passed away suddenly at his home, Monday, February 3, 2014.
He was preceded in death by his dear wife of 53 years, Alice Mullen Bradley; father, Robert Bradley, Sr. and mother, Frances Tschopik Bradley.
He is survived by his two daughters, Dr. Rebecca and husband Dr. James D. Lillard of Louisville, TN and Melinda Clanton and husband Steve of Madisonville, TN.; sister, Edith "Missy" Dickey and brother, J.D. Bradley and wife Peggy of Knoxville; brother-in-law, A.M. Mullen, Jr. and wife Frances of Newport, TN and sister-in-law, Olivia White and husband James of Jackson, TN. He also leaves behind several dear nieces and nephews and caregiver and friend, Pati Kos Cooke.
Bob was a graduate of Old Knoxville High School in 1945 and volunteered for the United States Navy one month later. He spent four months in Tokyo, Japan and Shanghai, China. Because of the end of World War II, he received an honorable early release from the Navy in 1946, where upon he entered the University of Tennessee, graduating in just three years in 1949.
Bob was associated with the Broadus Insurance Agency for 40 years. He was a partner in ownership of the Westside Package Store on Cumberland Avenue for 30 years. He had a fifty percent ownership in a Blount County Beef Cattle business for 15 years. He and his wife, Alice's favorite vacation place was Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of The Ascension, SAE (Sigma Alpha Epsilon) Fraternity, the Men's Cotillion and Cherokee Country Club. He now leaves planet Earth to join his beloved wife, Alice, in Heaven.
The family request that in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 800 S. Northshore Drive, Knoxville, TN 37919 or to the Smoky Mountain Animal Care Foundation. 233 Currie Avenue, Maryville, TN 37804.
