MAPLES, OLIVER KENNETH - age 82, of Sevierville, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2001. He was a Veteran of World War II, and a member of Am Vets Post 7. He was retired from Blalock Brothers Construction Company. He was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by wife, Martha Williams Maples; infant daughter, Sallie Mae; parents, Arlie and Ethel Townsend Maples; brother, Victor Maples; sister, Minnie Watson.
Survivors: daughter, Ruth Lawson, of the home; granddaughter, Misty Maples Price and friend, Wade of Russellville; great-grandson, Seth Daniel Laughner; sister and brother-in-law, Nelle and Mynatt Spence; brothers and sisters-in-law, Freeman and Kate Maples, and Paul and Beula Maples, all of Sevierville. Special friends, Marie Trentham, and Dottie and Jack Holbert; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 7 p.m. Monday in Atchley's Smoky Mountain Chapel with Rev. Andy Ball and Rev. Sam Hinchey officiating. Interment 11 a.m. Tuesday in Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Wayne Spence, Gary Wilson, Paul Maples Jr., Jimmy McMahan, Omas Justice, Ken Carr, Ray Williams, and Coy Green. Honorary pallbearers will be Corey Wilson, Kenneth McMahan, Coy McMahan, Ray Williams, Drew Wilson, and Jimmy Spence. He is survived by his daughter, Ruth Lawson, of home; granddaughter, Misty Maples Price and friend, Wade, of Russellville; and great-grandson, Seth Daniel Laughner.
Funeral service was held 7 p.m., Monday, in Atchley’s Smoky Mountain Chapel, with Rev. Andy Ball and Rev. Sam Hinchey officiating, with interment 11 a.m., Tuesday, in Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens.
The family received friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, at Atchley’s Smoky Mountain Chapel, 220 Emert Street, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
