Kirby, Deloris Ann-Age 73, of Knoxville, passed away Saturday September 17th 2011. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, aunt, sister, and friend. She was completely devoted to her family and friends. She touched the lives of all that knew her, and friends and family were so fortunate to have her in their lives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vaughn Neff and Ida Lee Bruner and her children's father and first husband of 21 years Bobby Frank Kirby. She leaves behind her husband Steve Pease; two wonderful sons, Robin Kirby, and Wife Teresa; Rocky Kirby, and wife Vicky; daughter Kristi Childress, and husband Brian; three beautiful granddaughters, Kandace, Kerry, and Riley Kate; three wonderful grandsons, Jesse, Cooper, and Hudson; three wonderful great-grandchildren, Michael, Melanie, and Deondre; and her wonderful brother Jay Bruner. Deloris also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends who all loved her dearly. Her accomplishments in life were astounding. She was a hairdresser for 50 years, ran for Sheriff of Knox County wherein a tight race ensued, and a clean and respectful campaign took place. She worked for Lakeshore Mental Health Center for many years, and at age 48 decided to go to college for the first time wherein she achieved her bachelor's degree while being a devoted mother of three, and working full time. She was awarded the University of Tennessee's Prestigious Women of Achievement Award after being nominated by one of her professors. Her accomplishments were nothing short of amazing. She will be sadly missed. The family will receive friends on Tuesday September 20th from 5-8pm at Highland Memorial Funeral Home. The celebration of life will take place on Wednesday September 21, 2011 at 11:00am at Highland Memorial. Interment will follow at noon at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
