Massey, Jr., Denver Peyton, age 80, of South Knoxville, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012 after a battle with cancer. Born April 4, 1932 in Knoxville, Dennie attended Moreland Heights Elementary School and graduated from Young High School in 1952. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. In 1957, Dennie founded Massey Electric Company where he worked until his retirement in 1984. He was a 32 Degree Mason and a member of the South Knoxville Masonic Lodge #769 F. & A.M. Dennie was past president of the South Knoxville Rotary Club. He was also a member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church and the Paul Pickens Sunday School Class. He loved his RV friends and he loved traveling. Denny was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Clark Massey; father, Denver P. Massey, Sr. and first wife, Margaret Elizabeth Rudder Massey Survivors include loving wife, Mary Edmonds Massey; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy Kay and Dewayne Barnhill and Martha Ann and Bill Seagle; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Angela Massey; eight grandchildren, Margaret Elizabeth Seagle, Andy Jay Allen, Adam David Allen, Katie Marie King, Kara Elaine Massey, Kimberly Kay Massey, Callie Taylor Massey and Connor Ryan Massey; great grandchildren, Kimberly Marie Allen and Knox and Cade Yoakum; sister, Ann Thompson; brother and sister-in-law, Gordon and Lois Massey. Dennie will lie in state at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Hwy. on Monday, November 26, 2012 from 9 AM until 8 PM. Private graveside service will be held 10 AM Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Mt. Olive Cemetery with Rev. Gary Massengill officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Sevier Heights Baptist Church Building Fund, 3232 Alcoa Hwy. Knoxville, TN 37920.
