Massey, Margaret Elizabeth Rudder, age 71, of South Knoxville, passed away Sunday, February 17th, 2008 after a long battle with cancer. Born July 19, 1936 in Knoxville, Margaret attended Mt Olive Elementary School and graduated from Young High School in 1954. She was a champion speller, volunteer church youth director, Sunday School teacher, Boys and Girls Club officer, past FMCA Club president, Rotary Paul Harris Fellow, 48 year member of the Eastern Star Knoxville Chapter #69 and member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church. Margaret was also the co-founder of Massey Electric Company. Preceded in death by parents, Elmer Fredrick Rudder and Grace Ellen Badgett Rudder; sister, Betty Magee; brothers, James Leon, Joel Curtis, and Donald "Gene" Rudder. Survivors include husband of 54 years, Denver "Dennie" Peyton Massey, Jr. whom Margaret married on September 10, 1954. Margaret and Dennie are blessed with three children: Judy Kay Allen, Cleve Randy Massey and Martha Ann Seagle; eight grandchildren, Margaret Elizabeth Seagle, Andy Jay Allen, Adam David Allen, Katie Marie King, Kara Elaine Massey, Kimberly Elaine Massey, Callie Taylor Massey and Connor Ryan Massey; great grandchild, Kimberly Marie Allen; sister and care giver, Linda Bowman. Margaret will lie in state at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Hwy. in Parlor A on Tuesday. Private graveside service will be held at Mount Olive Cemetery, Lot Q11, row 2, space 9. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Baptist Hospice, PO Box 22 Knoxville, TN 37901.
