U.S. Veteran Fred O. Murr, age 79, of Newport, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011. He was retired from Quaker Oats and Tennessee State Highway Department. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Mary Murr; daughters Robin Murr and Lee Frazier; sister Frances Marshall and very special friend Bertha Dalton. He is survived by sons Roger Murr, Freddie Murr, Danny Underwood; daughter Michelle Atkins; brother and sister in law, Bill and Marlene Murr, brother Charles Murr; sisters Della McNabb, Doralee Greer, sisters and brother in laws Edna and Lemmy Wilson, Mary Ellen and Bob Strange; grandchildren April Turner, Jimmy Turner, Chris Fish, Stacey Murr, Kayla Naillon, Robbie Frazier, Jennifer Underwood; four great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral service will be held 8:00 pm Sunday, February 20, 2011 at the Manes Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Wiley officiating. Interment will be 9:00 am Monday in the Union Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 pm Sunday prior to the service.
