U.S. Veteran Charles Murr, age 92 of Newport, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2016. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Walter G. and Mary O’Dell Murr; sisters, Dora Lee Greer and Frances Marshall; brother, Fred Murr; brothers-in-law, Connie McNabb, Bill Greer, Lemmy Wilson, Carroll Marshall, and Bob Strange; and special friend, Hattie Grooms. He is survived by his brother, Rev. Bill (Marlene) Murr; sisters, Della McNabb, Edna Wilson, and Mary Ellen Strange; friend, Rhonda Ottinger; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be at 7:00 pm, Tuesday, December 27, 2016 in the Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Wiley officiating. Burial will be at 11:00 am, on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 in Ray’s Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral services.
