Horace Ball obituary

You recall some weeks ago I bumped into Barbara Ball on the job restocking greeting cards at the White Pine Food City. About a week ago I finally ran into her again at our favorite morning coffee stop-The Valero station. She was munching on a biscuit so we talked about her work. I've known her entrepreneur husband, Ronnie Ball, for years and didn't know much about her. She is the daughter of the late Parrottsville Constable Albert Buckner and her mother is the former Jean Masoner Buckner, of Trentham Hollow. Perhaps you know her brothers, James, who is a supervisor at Mayfield's of Morristown; and Ronald Buckner, who works at Lowe's. Ronnie and Barbara, who have been married for 26 years, have two athletic daughters-they take after Ronnie and brother, Wayne, who were quite the athletes in their day. Michelle, 20, attends Tennessee Wesleyan and plays third base on the college's softball team. Likewise, Malinda, 17, plays softball at Cocke County High School where she is a senior. You will find her on the field at shortstop. The Buckners may not be athletes but boy can they work. Barbara was working three jobs until just recently. In the past years, she sold real estate and ran the family's restaurant at Stone Mountain. She loves working for Premier Card Company traveling in Morristown, Newport, and Talbot as a merchandiser. She also works for Mayfield doing "pull up" work, which is pulling outdated dairy products in Rogersville and Greeneville. She said that one of the popular lines with Premier that she handles is called Jellybelly. James Buckner's wife, Lisha, also works for Premier. Barbara told me that the family is excited because for the first time in about 14 years there will be a newborn in the Buckner family. Ronald's wife, Marta, is expecting a boy in October.
