Rev. Beecher Brooks Lane, age 80, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Thursday, September 29, 2011. He was preceded in death by his daughter Diane Lane; mother Ethel Wiley Lane; father Jess W. Lane; great-granddaughter Kaydence Worboys; bothers Ed (Doak) Lane and Roy Lane; sisters Lou (Whipple) Templin, Rhynny Brooks, Mary Will Sisk, Jessie Mae (Manning) Fraley and Rae Reed. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Eula Dean Lane; children Tim (Agnes) Lane, Darlene (Charles) Whitaker, Keith (Gail) Lane, Lester (Josephine) Lane; grandchildren Amanda Cody, Jessica, Sally, Brittany and Macy Lane and Gabreille Whitaker; great-grandchildren Karlissa, Hunner, Marissau, Waylon and unborn baby Bella; brothers Jay (Ruby) Lane, Joe Lane and Rodger Lane; sisters Pat (David) Perryman and Brenda McGaha. A Great man of God, Beecher was ordained to preach in 1961 and preached his last time only 3 weeks before his death. Some 50 years later. Beecher pastored several churches, St. Tide Baptist, Basinger Baptist, Bat Harbor Log Church and Victory Baptist Church. He helped to organize Bridgeport Freewill Baptist Church and was currently a member of Stokely Chapel Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Stokely Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. James Suggs and Rev. Wayne Wyatt officiating. Burial will follow in the Wiley Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Manes Funeral Home. Family and friends may sign the guest register online at www.manesfuneralhome.com.
