U.S. Veteran Charlie Daniel Fullington, age 88, of Parrottsville passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Baptist Convalescent Center in Newport. He was a retired farmer and a veteran of WW II, having served in the U S Army. Mr. Fullington, an Army Corporal, was a member of the D-Day forces that invaded France in June 1944. By V-E Day he had served more than 14 months in Europe. Major battles he was in include, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe and Ardennes. He was preceded in death by his wife, of 60 years, Nina Ottinger Fullington, son Danny Fullington. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Steve and Debbie Fullington, of Parrottsville, Anna and Anthony Hance, of Newport, Susan and Rev. Wayne Dalton, of Newport, William Fullington,and fiancee Marsha Cole both of Athens, and Mike Fullington, of Parrottsville, grandchildren and their spouses Melissa and Todd Green, of Newport, Eddie and Lavonda Dalton, of Parrottsville, Chrissy and Larry Smith, of Newport, Kerri and Garrett Ritter, of Newport, Brooke Fullington, of Parrottsville, Erika Fullington, of Newport, Cole Fullington, of Parrottsville, and Katie Fullington, of Parrottsville; great grandchildren, Maylee Dalton, Jaycie Green, Caden Smith, and Kyra Ritter; sisters-in-law, Beulah Maloney, of Telford and Helen Fullington, of Thomasville, NC; special friend and roommate, Buck Hensley; also nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held 8:00 p.m. Wednesday January 30, 2008 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Sterling Nelson officiating. Burial will be 11:00 am, Thursday, January 31, 2008 in Salem-Lutheran Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral services.
