He is survived by his wife, LeAnne Chesteen McCoig of Newport; son, Michael Eric McCoig of Newport; mother and stepfather, Sally and Jerry Shelton of Newport; father, Ernest McCoig of Sevierville; brother, Todd Allen, of Newport; stepbrother, David Shelton of Newport; grandparents, Della McCoig of Sevierville and Reed and Lenolla Vassar Sr. of Newport; aunts and uncles, Betsy Huff of Knoxville, R.J. and Brenda Vassar, Mike and Vickie Vassar of Newport, Patty Roland of Pigeon Forge, and Margarette Vassar of Knoxville; special granny, Dixie Morgan; special friends, Neil and Jean McCarter of Newport; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Union Cemetery with the Rev. Ed Hardison officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
