Lawrence Elmer Parton, 59, of Del Rio, passed away Wednesday morning at the Baptist Hospital of Cocke County following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his father, Bartley Parton; and a brother, Billy Jack Parton. He is survived by his children, Jess and his wife, Janice Parton of Parrottsville, David and his wife, Tammy Parton of Greeneville, and Marcelle Keller of Del Rio; mother, Mary Parton of Del Rio; sisters, Reva Dean Parton, Janice Pierce, and Rebecca Parton, all of Del Rio, Pauline McClure of Wellford, South Carolina, and Lucille Woody and Bobbie Ann Rathbone, both of Newport; brothers, Y.J. and his wife, Patsy Parton of Hot Springs, North Carolina, and Jr. Wallace and his wife, Linda Parton of Del Rio; grandchildren, James Keller of Del Rio and Dakota Parton of Greeneville; and special friends, Betsy, Lisa and M.L. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at the home of his twin sister, Lucille Woody, at 123 Douglas Avenue in Newport, where the family received friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday evening.
