Raymond J. Akins - age 78 of Sweetwater passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014 at his home. He attended Old Time Gospel Baptist Church in Lenoir City. Raymond was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Preceded by his son, John Roy Berry; grandchildren: John (John Boy) Berry and Angel Owens; parents, Charlie and Lydia Akins; brothers: Bill, John, Virgil and Elmer; sisters: Inez, Hazel and Pauline
Survived by his wife of 54 years, Alice Hyett Akins; children: Calvin Hyett and wife, Carolyn, Wayne Akins and wife, Robin all of Lenoir City, Joey Akins and wife, Tawanna of Loudon, Faye Worthy and husband, Mike of Sweetwater, Donna Akins and fiancee, Jerry Russell of Sweetwater, Connie Arwood and husband, Ronnie of Loudon, Chris Akins and wife, Angie of Madisonville and Bobbie Jean of Maryville; grandchildren: Chris, Jessica, Anthony, April, Debra, Dana, Wanda, Billy, Amanda, Chandler, Eric, Kayla and Cameron; great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Tyler, Noah, Isaiah, Baylee, Hunter, Braden, McKenzie, Gatlin, Aiden, Paul, Isabel, Curtis, Joseph, Logan, Anthony, Alisha, Ariana, Cameron, Isaac, Ayden and Andrew, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins .
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Junior Ward officiating. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home by 12:30 p.m. Tuesday and proceed to Lakeview Cemetery for 1 p.m. graveside services. Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City is in charge of arrangements.
