Virgil retired from Friendsville Rock Quarry. Preceded in death by: his parents, Charles and Lydie Akins; sisters, Inez Breeden, Pauline Selvage and Hazel Akins. Survived by: his children, Edith Parks and husband Jackie of Lenoir City, Charlie Akins of Philadelphia, Margaret Ledford of Sweetwater, Linda Webb of Sweetwater and Jim Akins of Lenoir City; former wife, Ruth Akins of Sweetwater; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, John, Raymond, Pedro and Elmer Akins; sister, Arizona Selvage; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Click Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Hickory Valley Cemetery with Full Military Honors conferred by VFW Post 5150 and American Legion Posts 120, 70 and 256.
