Mary Willie O'Dell Dockery, 84, of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2005, at Colonial Hills Nursing Center. Mary was born March 30, 1921, in Greene County to William Nelson and Flora Fillers O'Dell. Mrs. Dockery was secretary to Diamond and White Top Radio Cab Company for over 35 years, which was owned and operated by her husband, Carl Dockery. She was a Nursing Assistant at Asbury Acres Health Center until 1985, when she retired. She faithfully attended Maryville First Baptist Church throughout her adult life. Mary was well known for her delicious "from scratch" cooking. She was an avid U.T. Volunteer football fan. Mary was affectionately known by family and friends as "Shorty." She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 39 years, Carl Luther Dockery who died September 29, 1989; brothers, Porter, Finley, Major, and Wade O'Dell; sisters, Hattie O'Dell, Lucille O'Dell Payne, Cora O'Dell Humphrey, Gladys O'Dell Kempson; husband's parents, William Robert "Grant" and Lilzzie Rolen Dockery. Her survivors include: devoted daughter, Cheryl Dockery Jones and her husband Ian, who is presently serving with the 278th RCT in Iraq; grandsons, who always made her smile, Joe Crisp and wife Mindy, Jeff Crisp and wife Regina; great-grandson, Gage "Scooter" Crisp, all of Maryville; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2005, at Memorial Funeral Home in Maryville with Rev. Charles Ballard officiating. The family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Grandview Cemetery for a graveside service. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Home in Maryville. Friends may also call at the Jones family home at 3817 Big Springs Road, Maryville.
