U.S. Veteran Judy Marlene Rader, age 61, of Newport, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2010, after a fight with cancer. She was a veteran of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era. She was a lifetime member for 24 years of L/Cpl Charles C, Roberts DAV Chapter 102. She held the offices of, Service Officer and Adjutant. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 41 for 24 years and served as Treasurer and Sergeant of Arms. She also was a lifetime member of AMVETS Post 75 for 17 years and served as Post Commander, First District Commander and Chaplain. She was a member of Leadvale Missionary Baptist Church, in White Pine. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Dorothy Rader; and her brother-in-law, Eugene Layman, niece Michelle Reneau. She is survived by her two sisters, Nancy Rader Layman and Dorothy Rader Styles; nephews, Todd Layman and Tim Layman; niece Angel Styles Gregg; great nieces, Dee Dee Reneau, Tracie Layman, Camryn Gregg and Carlye Gregg; great nephew Caleb Gregg. Graveside services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, September 25, 2010 in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday, September 24, 2010 at Manes Funeral Home.
