Hayden Oscar Mooneyham, 65, of Newport, passed away Monday evening at the Baptist Hospital of Cocke County following a lengthy illness. He was a veteran of WWII. Hayden had been employed by the City of Newport in the Street Dept. for nine years before his retirement in 1999. He is survived by his children, John Dyer and Ralph Mooneyham, both of Parrottsville, Helen Metcalf, Mary Clevenger, Harold Mooneyham, and Eric Mooneyham, all of Newport; foster son, Ernest Owens of Newport; sisters, Mozella Ford, Jennie B. Black, Dolly Black, Rosie Black, and Nita Foster, all of Hartford, and Nina Valentine of Newport; brothers, Claude, Ted, Clayton and Junior Mooneyham, all of Hartford; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Brown Funeral Chapel with Rev. Eddie Maupin ofÞciating. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by Lance Corporal Charles C. Roberts D.A.V. Chapter #102. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Brown Funeral Home.
