Alvin Boyd Wilson age 77 of Newport died January 25, 2006 at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County.
Mr. Wilson retired from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years as a Senior Master Sgt (E-8). During his 22 years he served in the Korean War and the Vietnam War, and was a member of English Creek Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Elmer Holder Wilson; sister, Ortense Pack and an infant brother and sister.
He is survived by his wife, Johnnie T. Wilson of Newport; son and daughter-in-law, George and Kimberly Wilson; grandson, Michael Leonard Wilson all of Virginia; sisters, Grace Wilson, Vena and Demree Dillon both of Chattanooga, TN; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Madline Murrell, Polly Murrell, Bill Templin and Eula Templin all of Newport and Joyce Rolen of Chattanooga, TN; also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday January 28, 2006 at English Creek Baptist, with Pastor Stephen Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Baxter-Templin Cemetery, where Shaw Air Force will conduct military honors.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Saturday prior to the funeral services at English Creek Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to English Creek Baptist Church c/o Pastor Stephen Smith, 2166 Bogard Road, Newport TN 37821. Manes Funeral Home in charge.
