EARLY, JOSEPHINE SMITH (JO) - age 86, of Seymour, passed away Tuesday evening at Brakebill Nursing Home. Jo was born August 15, 1914 in Betsey, KY and spent her formative years in Somerset, KY. She graduated from Somerset High in 1932 and shortly afterward married LeRoy Early of Somerset. They moved to Lafollette, TN in 1939 and on to Knoxville a year later. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Laura Smith; husband, LeRoy, and sister, Garnet Roach of Nashville. In the late 1960's Joe and Alta Perry converted a former skating rink into the Chapman Highway Indoor Flea Market, for its time one of the larger indoor markets in the area. She retired from the business in 1973 after the death of her husband, but continued to deal in antiques for many years. Survivors: Son, Jim Early and wife, Dena, Knoxville; Daughter, Suzi Hatcher & husband Jeff, Wears Valley; Grandchildren, Mrs. Robert Wall (Jama Early), Naperville, Il, Steve Early & Chris Early, Knoxville, Adam & Justin Hatcher, Wears Valley; Great Grandchildren, Jeff Ward, Tempe AR, Jenny Ward & Ryan Wall, Napierville, IL; Sister, Lillie Jewell Smith, Knoxville. Funeral 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Berry Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Albert E. Pierson officiating. Interment 11:00 a.m. Friday at Woodlawn Cemetery.
