1 killed in motorcycle accident
By: JEFF FARRELL, Staff Writer April 21, 2006
SEVIERVILLE - A Sevierville man died Thursday after colliding with an oncoming car while riding his motorcycle on Allensville Road.
Johnnie Chance, 25, of Rocky Top Road in Sevierville, was riding east at a high rate of speed at about 10 a.m. when he apparently tried to pass a car over the double yellow line as they crossed a hill, according to Sgt. David McGill of the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Chance sideswiped a car driven by Sherrill Martin, of 1510 Creekside Drive in Sevierville, as he topped the hill, McGill said. His motorcycle slid 212 feet before stopping when it struck the rear tires of a moving truck driven by Jason Ford, of Sevierville.
Drugs and alcohol are not suspected in the incident at this time, but Tennessee Highway Patrol ordered blood tests on all three drivers because the accident resulted in a fatality, McGill said.
